Animation seriesIn the Disabled Elderly Village, there live nine elderly people with unpredictable origins and the young man Qin Mu they raised. One day, the cows that Qin Mu was responsible for grazing began to speak human words. From then on, Qin Mu became more aware of the dangers and beauty of Daxu, a land abandoned by gods: demons descended with darkness, divine bones danced in the ruins, and dragon bones protected their young. , a giant ship that drags the sun... No matter what kind of danger he faces, Qin Mu is fearless. He has integrated the skills passed down by the Nine Elders and vowed to carve out a world with his unparalleled hegemony.
While the world building and animation are very beautiful, this arc is quite pointless… All his family members are almost gods. He should be nowhere near them in power. And yet, he goes to save them? It’s like a small child running to danger to save a group of the most powerful master warriors of the freaking world… Instead of being helpful, it is being suicidal. Or worse, becoming a liability. So… what’s the reasonable explanation for this arc…?
@Spirit-Mouse I can’t agree with you on that one. The MC’s connection to the Carefree Village was present almost from the very start of the show. And while he himself has no business fighting foes on the same level as his masters, he did not fight all the way through until this point. He had help. And one should give him credit too, as he is a big deal being a young cult leader, as well as carrying a treasure trove of techniques and relics he stole from the golden temple. Aside from that, his own intellect and cunning are the deciding factors that can actually lead to helping his family even in the direst of traps, not his fighting ability. He took the risk to venture into the unknown, keeping in mind that he could die. But he believes his family members are in mortal danger, so he goes forward anyway, knowing he could be way over his head. And I am sure he will be scolded for that by his grandfathers and grandma when they meet. He isn’t cold and calculating Wang Lin. He was adventurous and bold since his childhood. And by now everyone should have realized that this show is a closest thing to an epic (meaning epos) compared to most series, and in the epics these kinds of events and motivations always had a place.
Wang Lin isnt cold though. He only kills people who try to harm him. From beginning he has only killed people that wanted to harm/use/kill people he cares for and people who try to harm or have harmed him.Take the old man with the coffin who tried to make him a slave. Wang Lin didnt even bother killing him after he found him again. He also didnt even want to fight the Woman who wanted to steal his cultivation art and make him a puppet. But she insisted on coming after him time and time again and blaming him each time she lost. Even when she was dying from another villain who clearly just wanted to use her to power up, she wouldnt let Wang Lin be in peace.
@Kei Wang Lin is very selfish. For the most part, he only cares about himself or whatever benefits him. With the coffin guy, he used him (and the resentment sword child thingy) to comprehend his life and death + cause and effect dao. He does act selflessly sometimes, and he usually fights those who wrong him in some way, but he is also ruthless himself. Very few of Wang Lin’s interactions are from a kindness pov. Also Wang Lin is a cold person, due in part to the death of his wife and his master, also because of the interactions he has with the world being mostly negative or antagonistic. This makes him reserved and cautious. Again, the only reason he avoided fighting the 1000 illusions dao woman was because she was stronger than him for most of the show. Had he have been stronger he most likely would have killed her. He was also just as confrontational towards her as she was to him, the only difference being that she was stronger than him for a long time and so he was usually trying to run away or scheme against her (he also caused her cultivation deviation by ruining her dao). Now, she was also selfish and antagonistic ash, but that is a trait that most characters have in the show. It’s dog eat dog, play the game or die.
@Kei You are right. I never meant it like that though. When I said cold I meant level-headed, serious and always ready to be ruthless. Cold isn’t necessary heartless. But one can have a cold demeanor and be just in actions. I believe Wang Lin portrayed exactly like that. He rarely seems welcoming and friendly but is always suspicious and on guard, not without a reason. Now Young Cult Leader here is also quite ready to be ruthless, but his demeanor is different, more on the playful and devious side.

do you know where he is from he is from a place that is above gods
@spirit-mouse show-casing the progress of MC and showing his filial-piety
It’s what he was always lookin for.
No, Spirit Mouse is right on this one, 100%. It is by nature, illogical and does not keep with the rules and flow of the shows own narrative.
That. Was. AWESOME.
